Questions about a piece, a commission, or a studio visit?

I’m drawn to the ephemera we encounter and overlook every day — the template of a child’s cursive worksheet, the motif on a paper plate — and I collect, document, and collage these remnants into the source material of my paintings.

I’m a painter based in Baltimore, and my work bridges the hand and the machine. The paintings themselves are made by a CNC machine — a computer-guided arm that holds whatever tool the piece calls for (brush, pen, marker) and moves it across the canvas, executing thousands of lines of code one stroke at a time.

I monitor and guide it through the process, embracing errors and mishaps as part of the final piece. The process sits somewhere between photography, a Jacquard loom, and traditional crafts like needlepoint and weaving — a physical-digital-physical feedback loop. While the language underneath is 1s and 0s, the final result reflects the magical, textural qualities of paint.
